President 2025

Bill Hiron

Meet Bill Hiron (appointed MBE in 2024 for his contributions to Passenger Transport), a key figure in the bus industry known for his leadership and dedication. He's the boss at Eastern Transport Holdings, which includes Stephensons of Essex and NIBS buses. Together, they run circa 130 buses in Essex, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire. His career started as a Senior Management Trainee with the National Bus Company rather longer ago than he cares to remember, and later included spells with Western Travel, Stagecoach and Firstbus. Bill also co-owns and directs Galloway Coach Travel. But his influence goes beyond just running businesses. Bill was a Director at Universitybus for almost two decades and spent almost nine years on the Board of the Confederation of Passenger Transport, including a year as its President in 2015, where he worked to improve things for both bus companies and passengers.

One of Bill's big responsibilities is leading ALBUM, a group that brings bus managers together to make public transport better. As ALBUM's Chair (since 2018), he's at the forefront of discussions and decisions that shape the future of local bus services. He brings his wealth of experience and insights to the table, driving initiatives aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of public transportation for everyone, which includes working with government bodies to represent SME’s.

His Presidential Address will be on Saturday 18th January 2025 at The Abbey Centre, 34 Great Smith Street, Westminster SW1P 3BU at 14.00 hrs.

Bill's Presidential Weekend will be held in Essex from Friday 26th to Monday 29th September 2025.
