David Conway

David is currently Head of Operations at Nottingham City Transport.

His interest in buses stems from an early age, growing up in Nottinghamshire as local buses turned from red and cream into a "rainbow" in those formative years!

After graduating from Durham University and following a year working for the Highways Agency, he joined Stagecoach as a graduate trainee in 2008.  A year in Exeter, followed by a second year in Peterborough, Preston and Carlisle then saw him appointed into his first substantive post as Operations Manager in Skegness.

Various moves followed; working on the Olympics project in 2012, then returning to manage Grimsby, Hull and Hyde Road depots before being appointed as Operations Director for the South Wales business in 2015.

After 12 years at Stagecoach, David took up a new challenge and moved to join Cardiff Bus as Service Delivery Director in 2020, becoming part of the team steering the business out of the pandemic.  Just shy of 4 years later, the opportunity arose to move "home", joining NCT just as the electric single deck fleet started to be rolled out onto the streets of his native city.

Outside of the day-to-day role, David is on the organising team of the Young Bus Professionals conference bringing the next generation of bus manager into the industry.
