Presidential Weekend subsidy
Members get the Presidential Dinner for free!
Following the feedback from the OS Survey carried out late last year, and a number of comments about the cost of this year’s Presidential Weekend, OS Council is looking at ways of making the Presidential Weekend more attractive financially. This is ongoing and will potentially result in some changes in the future.
However, more immediately, given the considerable cost of this year’s Presidential Weekend (PWE) because of its location in a popular tourist area, Council has decided to subsidise the cost of this year’s Presidential Dinner so that the dinner itself will be free for members – thus providing a saving of £45 for those attending the dinner. This will effectively be funded from accumulated surpluses from previous Presidential Weekends.
It is hoped that this will make the weekend more affordable for members. This saving will only be available to those members who have booked to attend the Presidential Dinner by 19 June. If you are bringing a non-member guest to the Dinner, the cost of the guest’s dinner will remain at £45 and will not be subject to the saving.
Please note, the deadline for any changes or additional bookings is Monday 19 June.
So, what should you do if you have already booked the dinner, or now want to add it to your booking?
1. If you have already booked and paid for dinner at the PWE
You will be given a refund of £45 at the weekend itself, either in the form of a cheque or by giving the treasurer your bank details, at the PWE, for a direct transfer. You do not need to do anything prior to the weekend. If as a result of this saving you want to add any other activities to your booking, please get in touch with David Grimmett, email@example.com.
2. If you have booked to attend the PWE but not the dinner, but now want to add the dinner to your booking
Please send a letter explaining that you wish to add a dinner (and who you want to sit with) to David Grimmett (address below) with cheque for £45, payable to “Omnibus Society SWW”. Yes, I know it’s now free, but for admin purposes it is much easier (given that many people have paid for dinner already) that everyone having dinner pays and then gets a refund at the weekend itself. If as a result of this saving you want to add any other activities to your booking, please let David Grimmett know, with the relevant payment.
3. If you have not booked to attend the PWE, but now wish to attend
Please fill out the application form (click here) as normal and send to David Grimmett as shown on the form. If you are including dinner in your booking, please still add £45 to the value of your cheque; you will get a refund of £45 at the weekend.
