OS President for 2020 announced

The Omnibus Society is pleased to announce that its President for 2020 will be
Martijn Gilbert.

Martijn is the Managing Director of Go North East, part of the Go-Ahead group, operating over 1,000 vehicles with 3,000 employees across operations in the North East of England and a subsidiary company, East Yorkshire.

Prior to joining Go-Ahead in 2018, Martijn spent nearly four years as the Chief Executive of Council owned Reading Buses, an operation famed for a number of industry innovations and best practice.

Starting his career as a trainee for London Underground, he quickly moved into buses in the independent sector, including running his own small bus and coach business Thames Bus, followed by seven years working for Arriva in both its bus and rail divisions, including leading the mobilisation and re-launch of what became Yorkshire Tiger.

Martijn is passionate about good public transport, excellent customer service and the people who make it happen. He has a breadth of experience from major PLCs through to independent SME businesses and across bus, coach, metro and rail modes. He is a Fellow and Board Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

 

 Martijn will give his Presidential Address in London on Thursday 30 January 2020 (not the traditional Tuesday evening) at One Great George Street, London SW1P 3AA at 18.30hrs. 

The Presidential Weekend will take place in the North East over the weekend of
18th-21st September 2020.  Further details will be announced in due course.
