New Chairman Elect for the Omnibus Society

Nigel Eggleton invited to succeed Harry Barker

As many members will be aware Harry Barker will be standing down as Chairman of the Omnibus Society at the 2018 Annual General Meeting after many years of loyal and steadfast service.

At the last Council meeting of the Society, it was unanimously agreed that Nigel Eggleton should be invited to succeed Harry and take on the role. Nigel has kindly agreed and members will be asked to ratify this appointment at the AGM.

A little about Nigel

Nigel Eggleton was appointed Managing Director of the First Midlands bus operation four years ago, and since then has made a significant impact in delivering a prosperous and sustainable network of operations in Leicester, Worcestershire and the Potteries areas.

Nigel has spent his working life in the bus industry gaining a wealth of experience, previously holding senior positions at Transdev, Arriva and Go Ahead and in the early part of his career learning the ropes at Hunters of Seaton Delaval .

Nigel’s recent appointment as Council Member of Stoke on Trent’s Chamber of Commerce and regular meetings across the Midlands with local MPs, Councillors and B2B stakeholders, puts him in high regard in the business world and transport circles.

Commitment, dedication, passion and determination is what drives Nigel into doing everything he can to improve local transport infrastructures, making bus services attractive, affordable, environmentally friendly and the preferred option for travel over other modes of transport.
