Tales from the last Red Bus General Manager
John Burch recalls his time as the last General Manager of Red Bus, the trading name of North Devon Ltd, one of the four companies emerging from the 1983 division of Western National. It was an era when First’s operations had depots in Barnstaple, Exeter, Ilfracombe and Tiverton and outstations at Bow, Bude, Lapford, South Molton and Torrington. It was sold to its management in 1988, and then became part of First Group in 1999.
