Tour – Greater Glasgow (Historic)

Stuarts of Carluke will also provide the vehicle for this tour, which will depart from Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow on the north side of Buchanan Bus Station at 11.00.     It is proposed that the tour will commence with a visit to the McGill’s Bus Service depot at Johnstone.    Thereafter, it is intended that we will follow the outer circle route proposed in the Greater Glasgow Transport Study of 1968.     The route will take in such places as Clydebank, Bearsden, Kirkintilloch, Coatbridge, Hamilton, East Kilbride and Paisley.    There will be stops on the route as time permits and Branch member Alan Millar who has planned the tour will provide a commentary.    The tour will finish around 16.00 and the fare will not exceed £10.00.

            

Evening Meeting

Alan Millar will present an illustrated talk with the title “Plans and Promises” in the Mid Hall at the Woodside Halls, Glenfarg Street, Glasgow at 18.00.     The talk will be about the post-war transport proposals for Greater Glasgow and will undoubtedly be most interesting.     It is hoped that there will be a large attendance.
