Dunoon & Rothesay Tour

Participants are advised to take the 10:06 train from Glasgow Central to Gourock Pier, thereby giving sufficient time to buy tickets for the 11:20 Argyll Ferries sailing to Dunoon, where we shall be met by a West Coast Motors vehicle for a visit to their local depot and Toward Point, thereafter heading to Colintraive for the connecting ferry to Rhubodach on the Isle of Bute. We hope to visit West Coast Motors’ Rothesay depot on the way to the town for a break before a tour to Mount Stuart, returning to Rothesay to connect with the ferry to Wemyss Bay, aiming for the 18:56 train to Glasgow with an estimated time of arrival there of 19:44.

As an alternative to the train, McGill’s Service 901, departing Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station at 09:50 is scheduled to reach Gourock Pierhead at 11:05. However, their last service (on the 906) from Wemyss Bay departs at 18:35, arriving at 20:00 in Glasgow, which we would miss.

ScotRail £6.80 + £7.10 for 2 singles or £7.50 + £3.60 for the cheaper option of a return to Gourock Pier + a single from Wemyss Bay to Port Glasgow
