The Introduction of Red RFs, part 2

Open to all

Peter Osborn

This meeting will be held on Thursday 13 March 2014 at 55 Broadway, London SW1 (St James's Park underground) at 18.00 for 18.30.

Part 1 chronicled the introduction of 225 Central Area RFs between September 1952 and March 1953, and the routes to which they were allocated.  Part 2 will take the story forward ten years, showing how the stability of the first five years was to be replaced by a succession of changes over the next five.

More detail on London's red RF routes is available on

Route 208 retained its RFs in 1967, but fellow RF route 208A has been replaced by RLH-operated 178.    Photo © David Christie
