In memory of the late Iain Macgregor who was a Branch stalwart, it is intended to have an “Iain Day” on the above date.
A tour around the Glasgow and Paisley areas will take place travelling along bus routes and passing the sites of several bus garages and other places of transport interest. In addition, the tour will drive past places personal to Iain including his family home, his first married home, his last place of work and the schools where he was educated.
The tour will depart from the premises of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust at Bridgeton at 10.30. It is hoped to use the preserved 1950 Albion Valiant coach FVA 854 of the Albion Vehicle Preservation Trust for the tour. Iain was a founder member of that organisation. Another vehicle from the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust may be used and the exact position will depend upon the number of attendees.
On return to the premises of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust at Bridgeton, Branch member and “Buses” Consultant Editor Alan Millar will show around 150 photographs selected from those taken by Iain in the period from the 1950s to the 1990s. It is anticipated that the event will finish in the late afternoon.
It is not proposed that there should be any charge for attendance at the event. However, it is intended that there will be a collection for MND Scotland in memory of Iain and it is hoped that participants will make a minimum donation of £20.00. Any member who is unable to attend and wishes to make a donation can pass this to Branch Chairman Robert E. Williams or Acting Secretary Ian M. Allan to be included in our payment to MND Scotland.
There will be an opportunity to purchase lunch from a catering outlet when the tour returns to Bridgeton.
So that we can guage numbers, if you wish to attend it would be appreciated if you could confirm to Robert at robert48rw@btinternet.com
