Centenary event

On Saturday 9 August 1919 the National Steam Car Co Ltd. took possession of the former LGOC bus garage at Bedford, St John’s. Country motorbus services started from there two days later. The garage subsequently passed to National Omnibus, Eastern National, United Counties and is now the Stagecoach base in Bedford. A resume of the 100 years will be given by Group members.

The Green Room, Challney High School for Boys, Stoneygate Road, Luton LU4 9TJ, 19.30 for 20.00. There is a charge of £5 per head for attendance, to cover the room hire costs.

Challney High School is adjacent to M1 Junction 11 and the Halfway Avenue/Travelodge bus stop on Dunstable Road, served by Arriva Buslink service Z, Arriva service 31 (Luton-Dunstable), and Stagecoach service 99 to and from Milton Keynes.

Please ensure you arrive prior to 19.45 and enter the building by the front entrance. Cars should be parked in the approach to the Main Entrance in front of the building.
